Frequently Asked Questions

Why are we doing this?

Build OMA reflects the needs of today’s travelers while providing the flexibility to continue to grow and expand in the long term. An updated, modern terminal will position Eppley Airfield to support passengers for decades to come. We are building a better airport experience while maintaining the characteristics that our travelers appreciate about OMA. These efforts, including the Terminal Drive & Canopy, Central Utility Plant and Terminal Expansion & Modernization projects, are enabling Eppley Airfield to become the best airport in the Midwest.

How will this impact my travel day?

Travelers should plan for extra time when arriving at the airport as impact to traveling schedules is determined by the phase of construction we are currently experiencing. The ground level of the South Garage will continue to be used for passenger drop-off and pick-up as the canopy and roadway is constructed adjacent to the terminal. Access to all parking garages and surface lots will not be impacted during this multi-year modernization program. Follow along on our progress to stay informed and plan ahead by subscribing to our newsletter.

When will this project be complete?

How much will it cost?

The total project budget for expansion renovation, inclusive of the new Central Utility Plant, is $950M.

How is this project being funded?

This project will be funded from airport revenues, federal grants and future airport bonds. Residents will not be taxed, and this will not impact property taxes. The Omaha Airport Authority is a non-taxing authority and collects user fees to support the operation and maintenance of airport facilities.

Who will be working on this project?

Holder Construction is the design-builder for the Terminal Expansion & Modernization Project.
