Welcome to our first construction update of 2026. After two years of steady progress on the Build OMA Terminal Modernization Program, the future of OMA is becoming more visible every day. With Spring Break travel around the corner, here is a look at where construction stands and what it means for travelers.
In our latest video, the Omaha Airport Authority team shares key milestones, including:
- Central Pavilion rebuilt and connected: What was once the center of the old terminal has been completely rebuilt, larger than before and now fully connected to the new concourse.
- New glass façade coming soon: Installation of the front glass façade will begin at Door 3, creating one of the most noticeable visual changes as the terminal exterior takes its final shape.
- Centralized TSA and gate areas taking shape: Inside the Central Pavilion, crews are building out the future centralized security checkpoint, concessions spaces and gate waiting areas while installing essential utilities.
- New escalators are arriving: The Central Pavilion escalators have recently been installed. With double the number of escalators as before, they will help improve passenger flow.
- Modern baggage system underway: A new baggage handling system is being constructed to improve screening efficiency, reliability and overall operations behind the scenes.
- Existing terminal renovations continuing: Former spaces are being renovated for future airline ticket counters, new restrooms and mother’s rooms. In the South Concourse, upgrades are aligning finishes and design elements with the new terminal for a more cohesive experience.
As we approach one of the busiest travel seasons of the year, a few reminders can help make your trip smoother:
- Arrive at least two hours early: Allow extra time for parking, check-in and security.
- Reserve parking in advance: Secure your space at ParkOMA.com before you arrive.
- Use Find Your Way at OMA: Follow signage, ask staff for assistance or access the interactive map at FlyOMA.com/map for step-by-step directions on your phone.
From visible structural progress to behind-the-scenes system upgrades, every milestone brings us closer to a more connected and comfortable airport experience.
